Web-based 3D applications need lightweight, performant assets that load quickly and render smoothly in real-time. Traditional high-poly chess sets are too heavy for web viewing, while overly simplified models lack visual appeal. Needed a balance between aesthetic quality and performance optimization.

The Solution icon

The Solution

Created as part of a 3D modeling course, modeled a complete chessboard scene in Blender with a dark wooden frame featuring rich grain patterns, alternating white marble-textured squares and solid black squares for visual contrast. Created all 32 chess pieces (16 black, 16 white) with a modern, faceted low-poly aesthetic—glossy black pieces and metallic silver-white pieces. Optimized geometry to 11.6k triangles and 6k vertices, ensuring fast loading and smooth performance in web viewers. Published on Sketchfab to make the model available online for easy viewing and integration into various applications.
